You will serve as a Geographer at the GG-09 grade level working in an entry/developmental capacity performing assignments and completing on-the-job and formal training related to contributing to the planning, development, creation, and analysis of geospatial intelligence (GEOINT) products/data for the Marine Corps Intelligence Activity.
Duties
You will assist in the maintenance and integrity of an enterprise geodatabase used for collection, analysis and production for the Marine Corps as well as the Department of Defense (DoD) Intelligence Community (IC).
You will establish and maintain a network of technical expert contacts within Marine Corps Intelligence Activity (MCIA), Department of Defense (DoD), and the Intelligence Community (IC).
You will carry out specific assignments with close supervision regarding routine tasks to generate customized Geographic Information System (GIS) products using available commercial and DoD data sources.
You will create products depicting cross-country mobility, coast and landing beach movement, lines of communication, flood prediction and creation of themes for use with the Intelligence Preparation of the Battlefield (IPB).
You will utilize a basic understanding of military geography with a specific focus on the evaluation of potential constraints to operations as a function of topographic and environmental conditions.

- This position requires a periodic polygraph examination.
- This position may require a 2-Year DCIPS trial period requirement.
Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GG/GS/-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
Carry out assignments, with supervision, regarding routine tasks to generate Geographic Information System (GIS) products using available commercial and Department of Defense (DoD) data sources;
Use basis understanding of geography with a specific focus on the evaluation of potential constraints to operations as a function of topographic and environmental conditions;

Master's or equivalent graduate degree
OR
2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree

Recent Grad
Recent graduates who completed a qualifying associates, bachelors, masters, professional, doctorate, vocational or technical degree or certificate within the last two years of the closing date of the announcement. Also, veterans who were unable to apply within two years of receiving my degree, due to military service obligations but are still within six years of graduation completion date with a qualifying degree.
Basic Requirements
Degree: geography; or related physical or social science such as geology, meteorology, economics, statistics, sociology, anthropology, political science, history, cartography, computer science, urban studies, or planning that included at least 24 semester hours in geography or related fields.
OR
Combination of education and experience: courses equivalent to a major in geography, or a related field that included at least 24 semester hours in geography or related fields, as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education.
