Duties

You will utilize professional knowledge of GIS and associated/related skills, manages all functions of the Installation Geospatial Information and Services program. You will evaluate requirements of GIS support services requested by command elements to determine validity of requirement, adequacy of technology being applied, efficiency of processing approach, compatibility with other related GIS functions. You will provide assistance in the development, improvement, implementation, coordination, and demonstration of GIS software and databases in establishing plans, policies, and procedures for assigned Area of Responsibility (AOR). You will establish plans for the effective utilization of remotely sensed data and GIS systems. Develops and compiles remotely sensed multi-spectral data and/or manipulates data using GIS techniques. You will develop and manage geospatial databases and identifies methodologies and applications for the manipulation and analyses of geospatial data to achieve stated objectives. You will ensure that GIS data maps, GEOFidelis maps, RBM and other maps for assigned AOR are current and reviewed at the applicable frequency as specified by DoD, Marine Corps, or NAVFAC policy, instructions, directives or guidance.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases.
  • You will be required to complete ethics orientation within three months of appointment and submit a Confidential Financial Disclosure Report, OGE-450, within 30 days of appointment.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Proving high level planning, development, implementation, monitoring and management of Geographic Information System (GIS) projects, GIS software implementation and GIS data. Basic Requirements

  1. Degree: geography; or related physical or social science such as geology, meteorology, economics, statistics, sociology, anthropology, political science, history, cartography, computer science, urban studies, or planning that included at least 24 semester hours in geography or related fields.

    or

  2. Combination of education and experience: courses equivalent to a major in geography, or a related field that included at least 24 semester hours in geography or related fields, as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education.
