The Lead Legal Instruments Examiner performs multiple, varying, and often complex assignments involving the technical and regulatory aspects of the agency's nation-wide programs for adjudicating aircraft registration applications and legal instruments affecting title to, or interest in, property establishing ownership of aircraft and security conveyances.

Duties

Interprets and analyzes conveyances submitted for issuances of a certificate of aircraft registration or legality of conveyances submitted granting an interest in aircraft, engines, propellers or spare parts locations. Responds to inquiries from the other FAA lines of business, stakeholders, the aviation public and other governmental agencies regarding aircraft registration information. This position interfaces with officials from many levels of government both domestic and foreign.

Requirements

  • US Citizenship is required.
  • Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959.
  • Must submit an SF50 (See Required Documents).
  • A one-year probationary period may be required.
  • Successful completion of a security investigation may be required.

Qualifications

To qualify for this position at the FV-H (GS/FG-12/13) level, you must demonstrate in your application that you possess at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the FV-G (GS/FG-10/11) level. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position to be filled.Specialized Experience includes: Experience examining aircraft registration, recordation and supporting documents in order to effectively assist other Legal Instruments Examiners; experience applying policies and procedures in accordance with Federal Aviation Regulations, guidelines, and procedures associated with the Aircraft Registration process; experience analyzing findings and making recommendations of proposed regulations and policy; experience providing guidance concerning the application and interpretation of regulatory material affecting the Aircraft Registration Certification regulatory program.Qualifications must be met by the closing date of the announcement.
