The Lead Legal Instruments Examiner performs multiple, varying, and often complex assignments involving the adjudication of legal instruments, applications and supporting documents for 25 classes of airmen certificates with an infinite number of various ratings, type ratings, limitations, exemptions, categories, etc.

Duties

Applies experience and advanced/comprehensive knowledge of airmen certification processes and procedures. Examines airmen applications, supporting documents and enforcement actions and has final decision-making authority regarding issuance of all classes of airmen certificates and an infinite aviation public and other government agencies regarding airmen certification information.

Requirements

  • US Citizenship is required.
  • Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959.
  • Must submit an SF50 (See Required Documents).
  • A one-year probationary period may be required.
  • Successful completion of a security investigation may be required.

Qualifications

To qualify for this position at the FV-H (GS/FG-12/13) level, you must demonstrate in your application that you possess at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the FV-G (GS/FG-10/11) level. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position to be filled.Specialized Experience includes: Experience applying policies and procedures in accordance with Federal Aviation Regulations; experience administering program services, guidelines, and procedures associated with the Airmen Certification process; experience analyzing findings and making recommendations; experience in providing guidance concerning the application and interpretation of regulatory material affecting the Airmen Certification regulatory program.Qualifications must be met by the closing date of the announcement. Applicants should provide examples of Specialized Experience in their Work History.
