Duties
The primary purpose of this position is to serve as a Quality Assurance Editor for the Law Library of Congress. Working under the general direction of the Law Library's Supervisory Writer-Editor and being cognizant of production deadlines, the incumbent proofreads and copyedits Law Library products, including legal research reports on foreign and comparative law, to ensure that they meet established editorial and formatting standards. The incumbent reviews products for correct punctuation, grammar, and word usage; verifies the correct application of style and citation guidelines; checks the accuracy of document formatting; confirms hyperlinks; proofreads products edited by others; preforms consistency reviews of collaborative products; and uses specified systems to track production information and the status of Law Library products. The incumbent also performs general administrative functions in support of the Law Library's editorial and production activities, and assists with special projects.
Qualifications
Applicants must have had progressively responsible experience and training sufficient in scope and quality to furnish them with an acceptable level of the following knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the duties of the position without more than normal supervision.
