You will serve as a Information Technology Specialist (APPSW) in the Manpower and Reserve Affairs Department of HQ US MARINE CORPS.
Duties
You will develop, coordinate, test, and implement major software upgrades, security patches, and mandatory changes that are required on all supported applications.
You will participate on boards to review development proposals, including systems capabilities, future initiatives, problems, or other critical issues requiring higher level decision authority.
You will evaluate system acquisition/implementation designs and plan ensuring that information assistance measures and requirements have been integrated and met.
You will assign and track error in the daily support of multiple application programming and scripting languages such as, Angular, Java, JavaScript/NodeJS, Python. C/C++, and .Net web applications.
You will analyze current automation technology and practices relevant to the administration and information assurance of DoD computer networks and Federal Information Security Management Act (FISMA) compliance.
You will review existing software codes, and new code to provide daily support or enhancements to critical manpower applications.
You will participate on boards to review and development proposal’s, including architectures, timelines in support of Manpower systems.
Requirements

- You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
- You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases.

Qualifications
You are required to have information technology (IT) related experience in the federal service or private or public sector demonstrating the following four competencies, as defined:
1. Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail. IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: Performing code reviews and assisting in the development of application test plans.
2. Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services. IT related experience demonstrating this competency include: Reviewing existing software code, develops, and reviews new code to provide daily support or enhancements to applications.
3. Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, and responds appropriately. IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: preparing and presenting briefs describing systems capabilities, future initiatives, problems, or other critical issues requiring higher level decision authority.
4. Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations. IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: Developing, coordinating, testing, and implementing major software upgrades, security patches, and mandatory changes required.
In addition to the experience demonstrating the four competencies above, your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Troubleshooting and resolving complex application programming and scripting languages throughout the entire systems development life cycle, addressing items such as systems capacity, performance, secure software development practices, and accessibility of web-based applications and databases.
