The Program Support Assistant -Credentialing Specialist is assigned to the Credentialing and Privileging Office, which is under the Chief of Staff at a VA Medical Center (VAMC) and is responsible for providing administrative and technical direction and support to the credentialing operations. The Program Support Assistant -Credentialing Specialist is aligned to and supervised by the Credentialing and Privileging (C&P) Manager.
Duties
Duties include but are not limited to:
The Credentialing Specialist ensures compliance with guidelines.
Uses significant judgement to inform leadership and appropriate administrative staff of program changes, new regulatory requirements, policies and procedures or issues and concerns.
Receives and reviews correspondence and communications for the credentials in nature and determines course of action based on information provided.
Holds credit card and is responsible for maintaining records, reconciling monthly charge statements and verifying legitimacy of requests.
Accomplish the mission and function of the credentials program at the VAMC.
Assures application packages and other documents meet technical requirements per specialty of provider and assures application folder and database account (VetPro or other internal databases and spreadsheets) meet technical requirements.
Provides oversight to application process; analyzes exceptions and deviations in expected application process; determines course of action and makes recommendations.
Manages the work involving the tracking of data and documents in support of the credentialing operation.
Communicates and treats internal and external customers in a courteous, tactful, and respectful manner.
Comply with all Federal, VA, VHA, VISN and local regulations, using mandated socio-economic entities and complying with the Javits-Wagner-O'Day Act and using mandatory sources.
Verify funds availability prior to making purchases and complying with single purchase and monthly cardholder limits placed on card.
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 08:00am to 4:30pm

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 10/08/2024.
Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-06 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-05. For a GS-07 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-06. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. Note: Time-In-Grade requirements also apply to former Federal employees applying for reinstatement as well as current employees applying for Veterans Employment Opportunities Act of 1998 (VEOA) appointment.
You may qualify based on education and/or experience as described below:
Specialized Experience: To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level (GS-5) in the Federal service. Specialized experience includes: experience where you were responsible for providing administrative support; collecting, compiling and tracking data and information; processing documents and reports; establishing, updating and maintaining office files and records; performing automation duties using such software applications such as word processing, spreadsheet, electronic mail, desktop publishing, calendar, database and/or graphics; answering telephones, referring visitors, and providing information. NOTE: Experience must be fully documented on your resume and must include job title, duties, month and year start/end dates AND hours worked per week.
Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade( GS-06 ) in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include but are not limited to: Prepares a wide variety of recurring and nonrecurring reports, correspondence and other documents; Review and process incoming and outgoing documents and or correspondence; Analyze and research information/databases; Maintain office records/files in accordance with Records Management System procedures; and Responsible for purchases within the service. NOTE: Experience must be fully documented on your resume and must include job title, duties, month and year start/end dates AND hours worked per week.

Physical Requirements:
The work is sedentary. Some work may require movement between offices, hospitals, warehouses, and similar areas for meetings and to conduct work. Work may also require walking/standing, in conjunctions with travel to and attendance at meetings and/or conferences away from the work site. Incumbent may carry and lift light items weighing less than 15 pounds.
