Qualifications
NOTE: You must meet qualification requirements by the closing date of this announcement.
To qualify for the GS-08 level, you need to have at least one year of full-time experience equivalent to the GS-07 level defined as Experience maintaining supervisor’s calendar and scheduling meetings; making travel arrangements; providing administrative functions and guidance to staff.
In addition to meeting the experience and/or education requirements described above, you must possess the following skill: 40 words per minute typing speed.
Your answers to the online assessment will be used to evaluate your competencies in the following areas:
Skill in oral communication
Knowledge of the organization, it's programs and functions, and the ability to provide information to a variety of others regarding the organization and its activities.
Knowledge of software types based on specific needs of the organization
Knowledge of grammar, spelling, punctuation, required formats and general technical/legal terminology.
Knowledge of Federal Managers Financial Integrity Act requirements to provide assistance in tracking information and compiling reports.
Knowledge of administrative processes and procedures used in providing support to the office staff including ordering supplies, receiving and routing mail, filing, federal travel, tracking and reporting credit card usage, tracking travel funds, training, etc.
Ability to coordinate the work of the office with the work of the other offices and recognize the need for such coordination in various circumstances.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
