Duties
You will represent the Director in support of joint Department of Defense (DoD)/ Department of Energy (DOE) Nuclear Weapons Council (NWC) activities, including the Standing and Safety Committee and subordinate working groups.
You will provide support in communicating official positions on the political, programmatic, operational, and technical aspects of the submarine
launched nuclear deterrent.
You will represent SSP at higher echelon Navy and DoD activities or in negotiations with other activities, including the NDMAG.
You will support the Navy by leading communication plans, prepare briefing material and congressional testimony, assist in formulation of relevant nuclear enterprise policy, conducting stakeholder engagement, and influencing decision makers.
You will support the Reentry Systems Branch Strategy and Policy Section Head as a Reentry Systems Branch representative for Nuclear Posture Review (NPR) development and implementation.
You will liaise, partner with, and support various stakeholders in the formulation and execution of requirements, planning factors, and budgets necessary to support design, development, production, and test and evaluation of Navy reentry systems.
You will communicate the status of section business regularly with Reentry Systems Branch leadership to enable mission success.
Requirements

- You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
- Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
- This position is covered under the Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act (DAWIA). Certification in the Acquisition Functional Area and category assigned to the position is required within established category timeframes.
Qualifications
Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the NH-02 pay band (GA-11 equivalent) in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Applying knowledge of DoD nuclear enterprise processes (e.g. Nuclear Posture review, National Defense Strategy, etc.) to conduct communications related to materials or policies for the development and implementation of reentry systems.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
