Joining the Secret Service, Office of Security, Security Programs Division, Field Support Branch will allow you to support the Secret Service Enterprise, its protective mission, and its investigation mission by coordinating implementation/oversight of security policies, programs, and standards to protect and safeguard Secret Service personnel, property, facilities, and information, and by overseeing/supporting emergency preparedness, response planning, and continuity of operations (COOP).

Duties

The selectee will serve as a Regional Security Specialist in the Office of Security, Security Programs Division. Typical work assignments include: Implementing the facility security program consistent with Interagency Security Committee (ISC) security standards to include security surveys, facility security and active shooter response plans, and mail/package handling and processing; Reviewing and inspecting Sensitive Compartmented Information Facilities (SCIFs) where classified and sensitive information is discussed, stored, handled, and processed. Recommending security techniques, methods, and practices and developing/modifying internal operating guidelines to meet the changing needs of the organization in satisfying security and emergency preparedness programs.

Qualifications

You qualify for the GS-13 level if you possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level performing duties such as: Researching and analyzing difficult security problems/issues for physical, administrative, information, operational (OPSEC) or industrial security to provide advice and guidance to stakeholders; AND Monitoring access to Sensitive Compartmented Information Facilities (SCIFs) and assuring procedures and processes are followed to safeguard the handling/storage of classified and sensitive information; AND Developing, recommending, and implementing emergency management and/or continuity of operations (COOP) activities for an organization. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. The qualification requirements listed above must be met by the closing date of this announcement. Current or Former Political Appointees: The Office of Personnel Management (OPM) must authorize employment offers made to current or former political appointees. If you are currently, or have been within the last 5 years, a political Schedule A, Schedule C, Non-career SES or Presidential Appointee employee in the Executive Branch, you must disclose this information to the Human Resources Office.
