The primary purpose of this position is to provide a Command Post Specialist to perform the full range of command post controller functions in support of host wing emergency and contingency operations.
Duties
Performs a wide variety of Nuclear Command and Control (NC2) and Command and Control (C2) operations, coordination, and mission monitoring.
Coordinates resources requirements and conducts training.
Coordinates operational and readiness reporting.
Coordinates emergency & contingency actions.

This is a Mission Essential (ME) position performing a Mission Critical Function (MCF) which must continue uninterrupted after the occurrence of an emergency and continued through full resumption of all functions. IAW, DoDI 3020-42, Defense Continuity Programs.
This is a key position. The duties of this position meets all requirements as a category 4 designation, and shall not be vacated during a national emergency or mobilization without seriously impairing the capability of the parent Federal Agency or office to function effectively. This position must be removed from the Ready Reserve and CAN NOT become a member of the Ready Reserve. (IAW: DoDD 1200.7, "Screening the Ready Reserve,").
In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Administrative and Management Positions, Miscellaneous Administration and Program Series 0301.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-07, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes knowledge and skill in applying established analytical and planning methods, procedures, and techniques to conventional issues concerning the execution of emergency and contingency response plans; practical knowledge of the organization, programs, mission, and functions of the assigned organization and agency in order to plan, schedule, and coordinate command post controller actions; knowledge of Joint Chiefs of Staff, Air Force, major command, and wing Force Readiness Reporting program and operating and reporting principles, practices, procedures and regulations applicable to force readiness reporting responsibilities on a military installation; knowledge of force readiness reporting organization, lines of authority, and installation response roles and responsibilities; and knowledge of standard agency and off-the-shelf information technology software programs for use on a personal computer in an operational (e.g. DRRS) and office environment (e.g. Microsoft Office).

FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-07 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-09 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. NOTE: Applicants applying as VEOA candidates who are current GS civil service employees or are prior GS civil service employees within the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
Knowledge of organization missions and staff management concepts, principles, and methodologies related to military Command Post operations; in areas such as command and control, contingency operations, emergency actions, training and readiness, and military operations planning and reporting.
Ability to gather, interpret, analyze, and coordinate information to support organizational decision-making; and analyze, plan, and adjust work operations of one or more organizational segments to meet program requirements and objectives within available resources.
Knowledge of safety, security, and force readiness, regulations, practices, and procedures.
Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, to gain cooperation from others through tact, courtesy, and diplomacy.
Ability to access or locate information through the use of a personal computer and software programs.
PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
