You will serve as Program Specialist responsible for applying solutions to educational problems and improving the quality and relevance of education programs through research, development, experimentation, demonstration and training activities. You will provide support to initiatives and efforts that incorporate best practices for diversity and inclusion and ensure participation of underserved/underrepresented populations in NASA STEM activities.
Duties
Oversee education project management activities to include developing, planning, coordinating, and facilitating specific education activities, projects, and/or programs.
Engage in on-going project assessment to improve performance. Propose project and process enhancements, including short-and long-range planning, evaluation of requirements and priorities, and reporting.
Track or monitor project budget and schedule development, project control, risk management practices/issues, and project documentation processing/archiving between multiple teams.
Provide support, assistance, and coordination in designing materials, planning, developing, implementing, and facilitating STEM education activities and functions in coordination with NASA offices, education institutions, museums, and science center.
Consolidate, interpret and transform data and make recommendations to support decision making. Produce, analyze, and report on project/program data to identify demographic trends, efficiencies, gaps and improvements.
Contribute to preparation of new activities to support Mission Directorate strategies that may include regional and national participants.
Work with customers to understand expectations, requests, and logistics required in the development of education projects and programs. Conduct initial research and respond to requests for educational activities from organizations.
Provide support and assistance while establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with facility managers, mission directorates, and education officials and organizations.
Serve as a liaison to external and internal education groups to develop new partnerships and projects for NASA that lead to innovative educational engagement initiatives.

Requirements
- Current Federal employees must meet qualifications, time in grade, and 90 days after competitive appointment requirements by the closing date of the announcement.

- This is a bargaining unit position - American Federation of Government Employees - Local 513.
Qualifications
Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work.
To qualify for GS-13, you must have one year of directly related specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level:
Implementing educational activities effectively to engage students, while interfacing with educators, community leaders or organizational management;
Performing project management activities such as project assessment, planning, coordinating, and/or facilitating specific education activities, projects, or programs;
Developing strategies for using technology to enhance the development and implementation of student or educator engagement opportunities;
Gathering and analyzing data or information and preparing briefings or reports with recommendations regarding program effectiveness.
