You will serve as a QUALITY ASSURANCE SPECIALIST (SHIPBUILDING) in the SURVEILLANCE AUDIT/PROCESS EVALUATION DIVISION of SUPSHIP GULF COAST.

Duties

You will monitor contractor compliance ensuring commercial pipe fitting, welding, brazing, Non-Destructive Test (NDT) and allied process specification requirements and standards are met. You will perform procedure reviews, conduct independent surveys and pipe/Non-Destructive Test (NDT) focused audits. You will provide in-process inspections, witness contractor weld qualifications, testing and evaluations and other tasks as directed. You will review and monitor contractors systems for qualifying personnel, procedures, equipment and vendors. You will review contractors testing procedures and results. You will provide on-site technical assistance to SUPSHIPGC project offices, the departments and product assurance divisions as directed. You will train SUPSHIPGC personnel in NDT, pipe focused audit methods and performing pipe focused surveys of SUPSHIP cognizant shipbuilding contracts. You will assist in developing, conducting and reviewing internal training programs within the technical, industrial, professional specialties and areas of expertise.

  • This is a bargaining unit position.
  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-11) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector conducting quality assurance inspections, assessments, audits, or surveys of contractor performance, machinery, systems, or processes to ensure compliance with established quality assurance requirements and standards in support of shipbuilding operations.
