This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. About the Position: The Charleston District has identified a need for a professional position to support the rapid increase in technological complexity involved in hydrographic and topographic survey data collection and analysis.

Duties

Use geography and geographic tools or concepts to assist with geographic or geospatial analysis or geographic operations related to map making, geocoding or spatial updates and coordinates. Assist with the preparation of project documentation such as project plans or requirements. Use automated technology (such as Microsoft Excel) to enter and/or analyze data or generate reports. Assist with geographic information systems and address list development. Prepare written documents, specifications, guidelines, and letters, using office software to generate reports and presentations. Preparing and writing technical documents, specifications, guidelines, and letters; participating in discussions, meetings, and presentations for various audiences.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 20 % of the time.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid civilian driver license.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05). GS-09- Use geography and geographic tools or concepts to perform geographic and/or geospatial analysis and geographic operations related to map making, geocoding and/or spatial updates; assisting with geographic information systems and address list development; preparing and writing documents, specifications, guidelines, and letters; using office software to generate reports and presentations; using automated technology (such as Microsoft Excel) to manipulate and analyze data and prepare reports; and using automated tools to track projects and run queries in databases. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07). GS-11- Use geography and geographic tools and concepts to perform geographic and/or geospatial analysis and geographic operations related to geocoding and/or spatial updates and coordinates; working with geographic information systems and address the making of maps, list development; preparing and writing technical documents, specifications, guidelines, and letters; participating in discussions, meetings, and presentations for various audiences; using office software such as Excel or other spreadsheet software to manipulate and analyze data and generate reports and presentations; and using automated tools to track projects and design and run queries in databases. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09).

Education
