About the Position: As a Senior Staff Action Specialist, you will be overseeing all command staff actions and providing staff oversight and technical advice to designated staff elements on a variety of command management and administrative programs, policies, and projects.
Duties
Participates in the formulation of policies, plans and program objectives that support the goals of the Secretary General Staff (SGS).
Uses automated suspense/tracking system to stay abreast of incoming and outgoing actions and monitors their location as they process through the Command.
Analyzes, processes, and follows-up on all correspondence and taskings throughout the Command to ensure proper coordination, correctness, timeliness and completion of assigned actions.
Participates in studies and analyses to improve management, operations, and administrative programs.
Provides policy and procedural briefings and instructions to supervisors and coordinates such briefings to implement new or revised programs.
Develops plans and objectives for assigned projects that cut across directorates and have multi-functional goals and objectives.
Develops, implements, and executes required staff action-related training for administrative assistants, staff actions control officers and staff officers to ensure they are current on HQDA and HQ FORSCOM administrative policies and staff procedures.
Assists with special projects, manages suspense dates for command-wide SGS actions and projects, and disseminates input.
Assists with public relations initiatives that reflect a positive and accurate image to both internal and external customers
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position is subject to a one-year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.
- While probationary the selectee can be terminated with limited appeal rights.
- In accordance with AR 690-11, this position has been designated as "Key" and shall not be vacated during a national emergency or mobilization as doing so would seriously impair the capability of the organization to function effectively.
- The selectee must be exempted from recall to active duty and will receive training to ensure mission accomplishment of sustaining base operations during mobilization.
- This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 25% of the time.
- Due to the nature of this position, employees are required to work both planned and unscheduled overtime.
- Must obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Top-Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.
- A pre-employment and recurring background investigation that includes contact with references, employers, co-workers, personal associates, and a review of your driving record, credit history, criminal history, and military service are required.
- The duties of this position meet the criteria for compliance with Federal and Department of the Army Drug Free Workplace Programs. Detection of the presence of drugs is warranted.
- This position is subject to a pre-employment screening, and random testing thereafter, to include testing based on reasonable suspicion and testing due to direct involvement with an on-duty accident.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service which includes managing staff actions and tracking suspense actions until completion; Using office automation systems and various software to draft and prepare correspondence using correct format, spelling and grammar; AND providing staff oversight and technical advice to designated staff elements on a variety of command management and administrative programs/policies/projects. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12).

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-12).
Applicants must meet all eligibility requirements and minimum qualification requirements prescribed by OPM within 30 days of the closing date of the announcement.
