About the Position: XVIII ABN CORPS SENIOR CDR AUG Fort Liberty, North Carolina. Fort Liberty is a culturally diverse area with rural and city populations, co-located at Fayetteville, NC centrally located in the beautiful state of North Carolina, which enjoys a temperate year-round climate and world-renowned colleges and universities. Fayetteville is centrally located between the beautiful beaches of North Carolina and the scenic Blue Ridge and Smoky Mountains.

Duties

Primary purpose of this position: Serve as the Deputy Corps G3/5/7, a non-deployable TDA position. Supervises and directs planning and execution of operations; plans; Force Integration/Modernization; training; readiness; and Global force management. Performs work directly impacting the Corps’ Divisions and Brigades assigned, aligned or attached affecting 40,000 to 90,000 active duty soldiers. Provides critical continuity, technical expertise and functional depth to the Corps G3/5/7 and Corps Commander/Senior Commander in coordination with Forces Command and Army Major Commands. Represents the Corps G3 at Conferences, meetings and seminars. Ensures plans, programs, and policies meet the commander’s mission priorities, objectives, and goals. Recommends programs or major projects to be initiated, dropped, or curtailed. Ensures the efficiency of operations and the accomplishment of missions and goals. Provides professional advice and assistance to G3, Corps Commander and staff for ADCON/Title 10 support to: operations; plans; force integration; training; readiness; global force management; and Brigade Warfighting Forum activities. Performs or directs a variety of technical functions associated with the Sustainable Readiness Process (SRP) and serves as the G3/5/7’s subject matter expert on SRP. Maintains liaison with higher headquarters on all G3/5/7 planning and execution of home station operations; plans; Force Integration/Modernization; training; readiness. Provides technical supervision over the staff. Assigns work to subordinates based on the G3/5/7’s priorities, difficulty of assignments, and the capabilities of employees. Participates in operational planning and program development to meet present and future mission requirements and provides technical oversight. Ensures plans, programs, and policies are consistent with organizational goals and that the diverse G3/5/7 functions of the Corps are integrated into a coherent whole, which supports the overall Commander’s ADCON and Title 10 responsibilities. Exercises the full range of delegated personnel management responsibilities of a second-line supervisor and represents the G3 whenever the G3 is not available. Develops the performance plans and rates the performance of subordinate supervisors (both military and civilian), and other subordinate employees as determined by the G3/5/7. Recommends selections for hiring; approval of employee awards and bonuses; disciplinary actions and grievances. Ensure organizational structure and position descriptions are designed to ensure optimum efficiency, effectiveness and economy in accordance with the DA Position Management program.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includesOverseeing or assisting with (at the Directorate level or equivalency) the overall Army Sustainable Readiness Program of a General Officer Army Corps consisting of over 40,000-90,000 active duty soldiers assigned to Army Division and Brigade formations. Demonstrating expert knowledge of doctrine, regulations and policies governing training readiness, operations, force management plans and force integration/modernization. Evaluating program policies to resolve problems and identify weaknesses and ensure corrective actions are taken; and coordinating multi-functional actions involving all program staff elements to achieve organizational objectives. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-14 or above]). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
