This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for DHA for STRL for Direct Support Positions to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.
About the Position: You will serve as CAPABILITY DEVELOPMENT & INTEGRATION SPECIALIST (AVIATION) within the AVIATION CDID- Capability Development Integration Directorate BATTLE LAB, Fort Novosel, AL.
This position is covered by a Laboratory Personnel Demonstration Project.
Duties
Analyze system characteristics and critical operational issues to resolve technical problems in existing virtual aircraft simulation systems training technology.
Ensure Aviation operations to include tactics, techniques, and procedures are followed to complete mission requirements.
Analyze and evaluate program effectiveness to improve technical performance and eliminate technical errors.
Develop innovative solutions using aircraft simulations, recommended upgrades, and improvements to training aviation simulations and models.
Utilize simulations standards, policies and procedures to analyze and advise on Aviation system matters.
Responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing aviation experiments and representing future aviation capabilities and operations.

- This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance.
- Occasional travel - You may be expected to travel for this position.
- Appointment to this position is subject to a three year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience.
Specialized Experience: To qualify based on your experience, your resume must describe at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job. Specialized experience is defined as:(1) Plan, coordinate, and/or execute aviation experiments (2) facilitate coordination with the aviation labs within customer base to incorporate developing technologies in both live and virtual experimentation (3) Represent aviation capabilities and operations in Joint and ARMY experimentation. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (DEII/GS-12).
Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent pay band (DE II/GS-12). All applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade and specialized experience requirements within thirty (30) days after the closing date of the announcements.
