About the Position: Serves as a senior Public Affairs Specialist in U.S. Army Garrison (USAG), Fort Sill Public Affairs Office.
Duties
Responsible for planning, coordinating, synchronizing and implementing the Commander's Communication Strategy, community outreach, Garrison social media accounts, media engagements for Fort Sill.
Develop and disseminate community outreach guidance orally and in writing to USAG and FCoE and subordinate/tenant public affairs offices and activities.
Provide liaison with Senior Mission Commander Public Affairs elements.
Analyze and evaluate past and current Department of Defense (DOD), Department of the Army (DA), HQ, IMCOM, and TRADOC programs as well as TRADOC subordinate programs.
Support media engagements for USAG and FCoE and subordinate/tenant organizations.
Develop strategies for effectively responding to public and media interest in controversial issues to avoid erroneous and sensational reporting.
Develop, implement and recommend principles, methods, practices and techniques of communication for the development of strategies/plans/products supporting USAG and FCoE and subordinate/tenant organizations.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- The incumbent of this position must be able to obtain and maintain a SECRET security clearance.
- This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 10% of the time.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes the following: Develop communications strategies and plans to maintain public support; Edit and write materials for specific audiences; Prepare command briefings and slides tailored to a variety of internal and external audiences; and direct the development and execution of projects through the production of communication tools. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-11).
