About the Position: The Directorate of Plans, Training, Mobilization and Security (DPTMS) directs, coordinates and synchronizes installation garrison operations, training support, protection, mobilization & demobilization, force modernization, operational planning, and security in order to support the Soldiers, Families and Civilians.

Duties

Perform duties as the first line supervisor providing technical and administrative supervision. Serve as the principal scenario writer and operational subject matter expert for assigned Training Center type love fire ranges and the Urban Operation facilities. Act as the subject matter expert for the final approval of all repairs, installation, fabrication and tests of targets and devices prior to installation at love fire lanes. Operate 1/4-ton truck up to and including 5-ton truck with trailer to transport (e.g., batteries, targets, building materials, and general ground equipment/tools) to and from ranges on the installation and public roads. Operate general purpose equipment to assist unit commanders in meeting mission requirements for a scenario (i.e., tractor and attachments such as trailer, mover, and blade).

Requirements

  • Appointment to this position is subject to a background investigation to determine your suitability for Federal employment.
  • The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles.
  • This position requires shift work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations.
  • This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter.
  • This position is approved for Hazardous Duty Pay and the incumbent is eligible for hazard duty pay differential when assigned to work in an area approved for hazardous duty pay.
  • This position is supervisory as defined by the Office of Personnel Management's (OPM) General Schedule Supervisory Guide (GSSG). A one year probation to assess your ability to perform supervisory duties is required unless previously completed.
  • Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes design of live fire facilities, monitors construction insuring compliance with current doctrine, conduct validation and acceptance inspections upon completion.; provision of specialized range training on specialized and specific ranges that enables military service members to conduct battlefield combat simulation exercises to replicate actual conditions using live fire equipment (ground and air) e.g. tanks, vehicles, portable cannons, heavy rockets, missiles, etc., ammunition (full range of size, types and capability); and carry out tactical combat and support functions in the simulated battlefield. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09). OR Education: Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Emergency Management or related fields. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages.
