About the Position: Works under general supervision receiving general or special work assignments, outline of priorities and deadlines, guidance on changes in regulations, policies, and procedures, and supervisor is readily available for assistance on unusual or difficult problems.

Duties

Analyzes ambulatory and out-patient medical data. Utilizes clinical knowledge of diagnoses, procedures, Current Procedural Terminology (CPT) codes, International Classification of Diseases (ICD-9) codes, clinic codes and clinical care processes when gathering and completing reports. Assists with the investigation of risk management events/incidents from a fact-finding standpoint. Retrieves and transfers medical records (using the SAFE file exchange), x-rays, diagnostic studies, etc. as requested by other/higher echelons using a picture archiving and communication system (PACS).

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and is therefore subject to annual seasonal influenza vaccinations.
  • A qualified typist is required.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which include experience using advanced office automation software (e.g. Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Publisher) to develop and/or maintain documents, reports, and/or correspondence; performing clerical or administrative tasks such as preparing correspondence, filing and data entry, and preparing reports; AND collecting, interprets, and inputs required risk management information. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06). Proficiency Required: This position requires a qualified typist. A qualified typist can type 40 words per minute based on a 5 minute sample with three or fewer errors. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Computer SkillsCustomer Service (Clerical/Technical)Manages and Organizes InformationTechnical Competence Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-06).
