This position is located in the OFFICE OF POLICY & STRATEGY, SECURITY & PUBLIC SAFETY DIVISION, NATIONAL SECURITY & INFORMATION SHARING BRANCH. As a SUPERVISORY POLICY ANALYST (NATIONAL SECURITY & INFORMATION SHARING BRANCH CHIEF), you will serve as the principal subject matter expert for implementing immigration policy objectives within the Office of Policy and Strategy.

Duties

The Branch Chiefs for the Security and Public Safety Division promote compliance, efficiency, and strategic planning. Additionally, the Branch Chiefs clearly communicate the office's mission, vision, and goals to employees. Interpret and apply immigration law, the legislative history of laws, the intent of Congress, and regulations, procedures, and judicial or administrative precedent decisions and mange the development of relevant policy guidance. Supervise a team of policy analysts who develop guidance on national security, security checks, and develop information sharing agreements to improve the immigration policy development process and the quality of work produced. Participate in intra-agency, inter-agency, and inter-governmental conferences and strategic sessions as a subject matter expert on complex screening and vetting issues that may impact USCIS and DHS senior-level leadership decisions. Oversee the development of responses to executive correspondence from the public, members of the U.S. Congress, or other elected or government officials. Monitor the progress of the branch's policy initiatives and provide oral/written briefings, presentations, or reports to the Division Chief and other senior leaders.

Qualifications

The qualifications for this position must be met by 11:59 PM (Eastern Time) on 10/02/2024. Current Federal employees must have served 52 weeks at the lower grade or equivalent grade band in the Federal service. The Time-in-Grade requirement must be met by 11:59 PM (Eastern Time) on 10/02/2024. GS-15: You qualify at the GS-15 level if you possess one (1) year of specialized experience, which is equivalent to at least the GS-14 level in the federal government, that equipped you with the skills needed to successfully perform the duties of the position. You must have experience performing the following duties: Interpreting and applying the Immigration and Nationality Act (INA), statutes, legislation, case law, and policies related to national security immigration issues; Representing a government agency or non-governmental agency to explain policy positions and to provide strategic advice on complex, significant screening and vetting issues relating to national security and other complex immigration matters to senior officials; or Leading or directing a team to develop complex screening and vetting policies, and protecting national security in immigration policies on a national scale and monitoring the team's progress to ensure policy objectives are met.
