About the Position: Serve as Range Inspector within the Operations section, Range Branch, Directorate of Plans, Training, Mobilization & Security responsible for safe and coordinated use of the Fort Liberty and Camp MacKall training areas.

Duties

Assist with range operations on use of ranges, training facilities, and maneuver areas for live fire, non-firing, and maneuver training. Monitor the issuance, opening, check fire, cease fire, and closing of all training areas through operation/communications via multiple radio nets. Inspect and enforce safe weapons firing and handling, ammunition handling and accountability, safe troop movement, tactical training safety, target emplacement, and environmental compliance. Advise unit personnel on the capabilities and limitations of known distance ranges and training areas along with other non-live fire facilities. Achieve mission accomplishment through working and coordinating with military personnel and civilians, including Reserve and National Guard Component personnel performing annual training.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Incumbent must possess or be able to obtain and maintain a valid state driver's license.
  • Incumbent must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government motor vehicle operator's identification card (OF 346) within 30 days after hire.
  • Incumbent must be able to obtain and maintain equipment operator's qualification record (DA 348) within 30 days after hire.
  • Incumbent is subject to an irregular tour of duty to cover 24 hour-a-day (must be able to work on rotating shifts), 7 days per week operation, to include holidays. Overtime may be required.
  • Incumbent must successfully complete Accident Avoidance training; receive and maintain card with issue/renewal dates within 30 days after hire.
  • Position requires a pre-employment physical and annual physical thereafter.
  • Must have normal depth perception and color vision.
  • Must be able to lift up to 45 lbs.
