About the Position: Performs a variety of clerical, administrative, and technical duties/responsibilities in support of management with the intent of accomplishing the administrative requirements of the directorate/clinic to which assigned. Employee plans, coordinates, and carries out the successive steps in fact-finding, and the analysis of issues, necessary to complete each phase of assigned projects.
Work hours 0730-1630 Monday-Friday in an office setting in the pediatrics clinic.
Duties
Manage the day-to-day operational functions in a department of a medical facility.
Receive and log outgoing correspondence.
Gather and analyze data from a variety of sources for special project.
Research and analyze problems and provide recommendations for use in developing administrative documents/reports.
Operate a variety of software system to maintain a continual accumulation of data for use in reports.
Retrieve and analyze date to provide recommendations.
Order and receive equipment to include preparation of purchase orders.
Perform a variety of clerical, administrative/technical duties in support of the department.
Manage clinic alert roster, defense travel system (DTS), as well as timekeeper utilizing programs such as DMRHSi and ATAAPS.
Discuss and evaluate alternate approaches and solutions to problems to assist management in reaching a decision.
Use judgement regarding form and arrangement for statistical and/or tabular material for submission to management
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position has mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirements and is subject to annual seasonal influenza vaccinations unless otherwise exempted for medical or religious reasons (documentation of exemption must be provided upon hire).
- A national agency check with inquiries (NACI) is required.
- This position requires lifting up to 45 pounds.

Current Federal employees must meet time-in-grade. Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-06).
Time-in-grade documentation: If you are applying for a higher grade and your SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you meet the one year time-in-grade requirement so you will need to provide an SF-50 which clearly demonstrates you meet the time-in-grade requirements (examples of appropriate SF-50s include Promotions, Within-grade Grade/Range Increases, and SF-50s with an effective date more than one year old).
In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience and/or education requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes performing administrative duties related to a medical office or health care administration; utilizing healthcare software systems such as Genesis; evaluating correspondence for grammatical and/or technical accuracy; and/or retrieving data for use by staff.
This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06).

Education: One full year of graduate level education in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as hospital administration, public health administration, or related fields such as business or public administration with course work in health care administration.
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 18. Add the two percentages.
