About the Position: This position is located at the Chemical School, DOT and Training Development, Individual and Collective Training Development at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri. The Fort covers more than 61,000 acres and is located in Pulaski County, Missouri. Bordering the installation to the North are the towns of Waynesville/St. Robert and Interstate 44. St. Louis is a 2 hour drive to the East along I-44 and Springfield is a little more than an hour's drive to the West of Fort Leonard Wood.
Duties
Serve as an instructor in the Reconnaissance Division, at the USA Chemical School DOT and LD’s Department of Instruction (DOI).
Assist in the Technical Training Division (TTD) Chief with the oversight of the work of the training instructors involved in Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear (CBRN) Reconnaissance and Surveillance (R and S) assets.
Provide instruction on the operations of the NBCRV STRYKER variant and the BIDS JBPDS operators training and the MM1and NBCRV STRYKER Simulators and training devices.
Conduct reconnaissance training under the direction of the military division chief.
Implement resident and distance learning programs for leader training, CBRN defense planning, reconnaissance operations, brigade and battalion staff planning and battle tracking.
Develop instructional materials associated with CBRN reconnaissance operations from individual level through brigade staff level.
Review doctrinal publications on biological defense concepts from other services and branches for correctness and accuracy.
Develop and write CBRN R and S doctrine that includes combat system employment concepts, tactics, techniques and procedures (TTP) across the full spectrum of operations.
Review and edit technical/non-technical training materials produced by other training specialists to ensure the appropriateness of material, correctness of terminology, adequacy and accuracy of illustrative materials.
Train trainers and users in the simulation of detection operations protocols. Integrate training and doctrinal changes into training materials.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires some physical exertion such as long periods of walking, standing, and crouching over rough, uneven, or rocky terrain and maneuvering on top of and in the STRYKER NBCRV and BIDS vehicles.
- Incumbent is subject to a medical clearance examination prior to employment. This position may require an annual physical or medical surveillance examination.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/ or experience requirements described below. Specialized Experience: One year in the Federal service that demonstrates a practical knowledge of the subject area of the position and of the methods and techniques of instruction which include: 1.) providing instruction, training, and operator maintenance applications on the Stryker NBCRV/NBCRV SSU operations and simulator training devices; 2.) conducts CBRN reconnaissance/surveillance applications and implements resident and distance learning programs for leader training; 3.) reviewing, revising, and writing doctrinal publications and subject lesson material for correctness and accuracy and working as a Training Instructor in the occupation field or subject-matter field of the position to be filled that requires training or instructing others on a regular basis.
This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09).

Education: Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M. with a major study in education or a subject area related to the position to be filled.

Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages.
