About the Position: This position is located at Homeland Defense/ Civil Support Office at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri. Fort Leonard Wood . The Fort covers more than 61,000 acres and is located in Pulaski County, Missouri. Bordering the installation to the North are the towns of Waynesville/St. Robert and Interstate 44. St. Louis is a 2 hour drive to the East along I-44 and Springfield is a little more than an hour's drive to the West of Fort Leonard Wood.

Duties

Serve as a Supervisory Training Specialist with the responsibility for supervising and mentoring Urban Search and Rescue Instructors. Responsible for reviewing and revising training materials, ensuring they are technically accurate and functional within known equipment and assigned personnel constraints. Use various training manuals, study guides, lesson plans and other available reference sources to present training. Establish Memorandum of Agreements with installation support agencies and oversees the coordination of training facilities, tactical equipment and vehicles; training aids, devices, simulators, and simulations. Develop long range plans and calendars that support training requirements. Develop training schedules for individual classes that reflects all training lesson and support requirements. Perform duties as Quality Assurance Officer, Instructor Certification Officer, and Resource Specialist. Track and report instructor progress through the certification process, and documents their proficiency in presenting lessons, and post-certification training, assessing, counseling, and mentoring of students. Provide oversight on policy and procedures, student recognition and honors program, student dismissal actions, preparation of academic evaluation reports, and the reporting of individual and class training statistics.

Requirements

  • The incumbent must be able to obtain and maintain Level I and II certification in the following disciplines IAW The National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) 1006.
  • Standard for Rescue Technician Professional Qualifications: Job Performance Requirements, Rope Rescue, Confined Space Rescue, Structural Collapse Rescue, Trench Rescue, Vehicle Rescue, and Machinery Rescue
  • The incumbent must be able to obtain and maintain Foundation Instructor Facilitator Course (FIFC) phase II certification (or equivalent) and certified instructor IAW FLW Regulation 350-1.
  • Instructor Certification, Development, and Recognition Program to deliver US and R training/education in the Total Army School System.
  • Incumbent will be expected to function in adverse climatic conditions and under intense physical and mental stress.
  • Physical Requirements of this position include: Occasionally lift and carry 170 pounds, frequently lift and carry 65 pounds, occasionally pushes and pulls pry bars and other tools from 24 inches to 50 inches.
  • Frequently stands or sits for prolonged periods of time, frequently climbs on and off equipment, frequently works in sandy and dusty areas, must be able to work outdoors in all environmental and weather conditions.
  • Must be able to work in confined spaces, must be able to wear other personal protective equipment (PPE) or clothing such as boots, goggles, gloves, chemical mask and other safety equipment. as required.
  • Must possess good reflex actions, and must possess hand and arm dexterity.
  • Incumbent must regularly: negotiate rubble piles, walk on or work on uneven surfaces, work in confined spaces, carry required equipment, climb ladders, work at various heights.
  • Incumbent must be able to exit void spaces to escape dangers associated with live trenches.
  • This position requires the employee drive a motor vehicle and successfully pass an Army approved defensive driving certification course. An appropriate, valid driver's license is required and must be maintained for the position.
  • This position is a Testing Designated Position (TDP) subject to applicant testing and random drug testing.
  • Pre-employment/annual physical required.
  • The incumbent of this position must be able to obtain and maintain a SECRET security clearance.
