About the Position: This position serves as a Guidance Counselor and is assigned to the U.S. Army Recruiting Command (USAREC), Battalion (BN), Military Entrance Processing Station (MEPS).

Duties

Perform enlistment processing on applicants applying for enlistment into Army and Army Reserve. Place future Soldiers into training classes beginning weekly and monthly for Regular Army and Army Reserve. Verify applicant data in Web Based REQUEST for those applicants arriving at the MEPS with a Future Soldier Remote Reservation System (FSR2S) reservation. Monitor results that return after initial enlistment and prior to shipping such as the Advance Fingerprint Report, HIV results, and Drug and Alcohol (DAT) results. Extract data from automated records to answer questions from employees, applicants, or managers. Assist future enlistees in the preparation of contracts or other paperwork to ensure all required forms are completed prior to entrance into the program.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Work hours are sporadic based on number of applicants to process for initial reservation processing or shipping to training/assignment. Hours of operation is also augmented by over 20 Saturday processing days and 1 extended hour per MEPS per month.
  • Position is dependent on successful completion of the U.S. Army/Army Reserve Guidance Counselor Operations Course (GCOC) and must be complete within 180 days of employment. Previous completion of this course will be honored.
  • May be required to complete a 1 year probation period.
