Duties

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING DAY TO DAY As a Senior Advisor, you will use your knowledge of and experience to optimize business results and customer experience by: Coordinating and developing responses to congressional inquiries and serving as a liaison for Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA). Coordinating adequate policy review processes and the quality improvement priority setting through consideration of leadership direction, input from internal and external partners, past precedent, early identification, and internal triaging of policy issues; and providing products/briefings/analysis for other senior staff. Providing leadership, guidance, and training of constituents in addressing a broad range of critical policy and program issues working closely with the Office of the Chief Medical Officer (OCMO) Director on the formulation of broad policies and programs related to substance abuse issues involving high priority matters affecting overall program goals. Serving as an expert in policy program/management issues with responsibility for developing, recommending, coordinating, and implementing program improvements and new procedures, which are designed to improve/enhance program performance. Drafting and/or reviewing documents on policy and program proposals on substance abuse treatment and behavioral health issues. Providing comments on proposed legislation and regulations on substance abuse and behavioral health and policy which have an impact on SAMHSA program functions. Providing professional guidance to staff throughout SAMHSA in addressing a broad range of critical policy and program issues.

Qualifications

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR Minimum Qualifications: You must have one-year specialized experience to perform successfully the duties of the position. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the GS-14 grade level in the Federal service performing at least three (3) of the following: Analyzing the relationship of prevention, treatment and behavioral health services to recovery from substance use and mental health illnesses. Providing advisory services in matters of behavioral health that support the accomplishment of overall organizational goals, objectives, policies, plans and/or priorities. Handling assignments of national scope and significance. Providing leadership, guidance, and/or training of constituents in addressing a broad range of critical legislative, regulatory, executive, and/or policy developments and directives as related in behavioral health. If such experience is on a part-time basis, you must provide the average number of hours worked per week as well as the beginning and ending dates of the experience so it can be fully credited.
