Duties
As an IT Specialist (Data Management/Artificial Intelligence), you will:
Help IRB leverage the moment and momentum created by recent technological advancements to harness the benefits of AI in the storage arena and significantly expand its responsible use to improve delivery of services and operational effectiveness.
Design, implement, and maintain scalable and reliable storage solutions to meet the organization's data storage needs in support of AI/ML data storage and workflows.
Provide AI/ML analysis for the planning, design and implementation of new and improved information systems to meet the business requirements of the program area.
Collaborate with subject matter specialists at any organizational level and other AI/ML experts in order to determine user needs, optimal computer system design, organizational impact, implementation schedules, environmental and administrative constraints, etc.
Determine, within user requirements and system constraints, a design strategy, information flow, system structure and interface with other organizational systems.
Develop proposals to translate management objectives/directives into advanced IT software application systems and review a variety of short, intermediate and long-range studies and projects to assure existing operational systems and methods provide the most effective and efficient manner of operation.
Foster the formation of research teams diverse in perspectives, backgrounds, and academic and technical disciplines - diversity is fundamental to the ethical generation of data sets, and for training future AI technologies to reduce bias and improve effectiveness for all populations, including those who are underrepresented in biomedical and behavioral research.

Qualifications
In order to qualify for a GS-2210 IT Specialist (Data Management/Artificial Intelligence) position, you must have IT related experience demonstrated by paid or unpaid experience obtained in either the private or public sector, and/or completion of specific, intensive training that demonstrates that I possess each of the following four competencies:
Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail;
Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services;
Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately;
Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations.
AND to qualify at the GS-13 level, you must have:
Demonstrated in your resume at least one (1) year of qualifying specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-12 level in the Federal service, obtained in either the private or public sector typically gained in the IT field or through performing IT related tasks such as: (1) delivery, integration, and maintenance of data storage technologies and products that support high throughput AI/ML workloads, which may include neural networks, high performance computing (HPC), or other advance data science technologies, frameworks, models, systems, human-machine interfaces, or applications in an organization; (2) making decisions or providing recommendations that influence the storage policies for projects, or programs, and securing leadership buy in and/or stakeholder consensus; and (3) participating in cross functional teams, which may include designers, product managers, data scientists, or software engineers, and working collaboratively with stakeholders to meet program or project data storage goals, objectives, and priorities.
