You will serve as an Administrative Specialist working in an entry/developmental capacity performing assignments and completing on-the-job and formal training related to general administrative functions. You will carry out assignments with close supervision regarding routine tasks using basic analytical and evaluative techniques and methods. This position is located within the Manpower, Personnel, Training, and Education (MPT&E) Department of OFFICE OF NAVAL INTELLIGENCE in Suitland, Maryland.

Duties

You will ensure timely and proper handling of all incoming and outgoing correspondence, documents, tasking, and messages pertaining to administrative functions. You will exercise analytical ability, judgement, discretion, and knowledge of administrative or program principles, concepts, policies, and objectives. You will liaison with other departments and commands to coordinate meetings, conferences, and other administrative functions. You will learn the requirements to hold a Government Purchase Card (GPC) in order to keep the organization stocked with supplies. You will assist management with other personnel related administrative procedures, including ratings, awards, advancements, and recruiting packages.

  • You must obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance and access to Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI). Failure to do so may result in the withdrawal of an offer or removal. Indicate the level and date of your clearance in your resume.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or pass the test. You will be subject to random testing.
  • You must acknowledge in writing that you are accepting an appointment in the DCIPS (excepted service) which does not confer competitive status, prior to appointment.
  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
  • Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • All Defense Intelligence positions under the Defense Civilian Intelligence Personnel System (DCIPS) are in the excepted service by specific statute, 10 U.S.C. 1601. This position is in the excepted service and does not confer competitive status.
  • This position requires a periodic polygraph examination.
  • This position may require a two-year DCIPS trial period requirement.

Qualifications

To qualify for the GG-07 grade level position, your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the next lower grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Draft correspondence providing administrative information to others for manager review; Arrange the scheduling and reservation of meeting and conference rooms to ensure availability for organizational needs; Assist with collating and tracking task responses and providing a weekly report to management to update status of all tasks; Monitor and adjust program access permission levels for organization personnel. To qualify for the GG-09 grade level position, your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GG/GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Prepare correspondence, reports, memorandums, or other organizational documents using Microsoft Office suite (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook for staff distribution; Collaborate with internal and external contacts to schedule and coordinate visits, meetings, and itineraries; Receive catalogs and assign to the division all incoming tasks and ensure timely completion; Oversee program management support for an organization, including assigning permission levels to personnel, processing user request applications, and ensuring compliance with administrative policies and guidelines. Education

In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience:

GG-07

1 full year of graduate level education

OR

4-year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree.

GG-09

master's or equivalent graduate degree

OR

2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree

OR

LL.B. or J.D., if related.
