This position is located in Department of Homeland Security/U.S. Coast Guard, Special Missions Training Center in Camp Lejeune, NC.
Duties
The position provides secretarial and office management support for the Commanding Officer, who assists in directing administrative and support operations.
Requirements
- U.S. Citizenship is required.
- This position requires a National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI).
- Applicants must be able to type 40 words per minute
- Males born after 12/31/1959 must be registered for Selective Service.
- A one-year probationary period may be required.
Qualifications
To Qualify for the GS-6 Grade Level: Applicants must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-5 level in the federal service. Specialize experience includes progressively responsible clerical, office, or other work that indicates the ability to acquire the particular knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties of the position to be filled.
Specialize experience include: suggesting and drafting new or revised clerical administrative support processes and procedures; maintaining files and records; assisting in the management of ongoing clerical and administrative support; drafting correspondence and reports; identifying workflow problems; providing assistance and direction to administrative support staff and lower organizational level.National Service Experience (i.e., volunteer experience): Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.The Office of Personnel management (OPM) must authorize employment offers made to current or former political appointees. If you are currently, or have been within the last 5 years, a political Schedule A, Schedule, C, Non-career SES or Presidential Appointee employee in the Executive Branch, you must disclose this information to the Human Resources Office.
