Serve as an Administrative Support Assistant within the Inpatient Mental Health Unit and functions under the primary supervision of the Inpatient Mental Health Nursing Supervisor. Responsible for providing a broad, complex, and diverse scope of administrative duties; coordinating the development, implementation and evaluation of technical and specialized projects to include the interpretation and revision of administrative functions, activities, and operational tasks.
Duties
Duties include, but are not limited to:
Serve as a vital resource for the Inpatient Mental Health Nursing for all administrative duties, supply ordering, project management.
Manage administrative and clerical needs for Nursing Inpatient Mental Health; initiates problem-solving techniques when problems/conflicts arise prior to presenting the information to Mental Health Nursing Leadership.
Prepare reports by the collection of data at various increments such as weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annually in support of Nursing Leadership.
Utilize Minimum Data Set (MDS) to pull various clinical-based data sets for required reports.
Manage administrative and clerical needs for the Baker Act Coordinator.
Assist the Baker Act Coordinators with reviewing legal documents and tracking.
Cataloging nursing records throughout their life cycle in the MKR Medical Records Database.
Assist the Inpatient Mental Health Nurse Manager in bi-annual testing of the Live Process system particularly prior to inclement weather.
Work Schedule: Monday-Friday 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Must be flexible and may need to work holidays to meet the needs of the organization.

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 09/25/2024.
Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-06 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-05. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade. Note: Time-In-Grade requirements also apply to former Federal employees applying for reinstatement as well as current employees applying for Veterans Employment Opportunities Act of 1998 (VEOA) appointment.
This is an Office Automation (OA) position. You must self-certify that you an type at least 40 words per minute.
You may qualify based on your experience as described below:
Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-05 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: Perform a wide variety of administrative tasks associated with maintaining and supporting a service; serve as a primary liaison between the service office and other administrative offices within and outside the organization; identify or be assigned administrative problem issues which require investigation, analysis and recommendation for improvement; maintain staff competency and quality assurance folders; serve as Service Orientation Coordinator ensuring all new staff receive keys and accesses; ensure emergency contact information is obtained; post time cards; and serve as Education TMS (Talent Management System) Coordinator; and Documentation and report preparation; resolving problems; performing secretarial, clerical, or administrative support; skilled in operating a computer and programs to included Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and/or SharePoint sites, and other VA software such as LEAF.
Preferred Experience:
Understanding and working knowledge of the Florida Statutes Chapter 394.
Knowledge of Baker Act State/Florida State Mental Health Act Regulations.
Experience with processing and filling in state regulated legal documents.
Experience with the E-Court Process Filling of the Fifteenth Judicial Circuit.
This position may require 25% driving, position may require legal documents being dropped off face-to-face in the Orange County Courthouse or the need to hold face-to-face court proceedings.

Physical Requirements: Physical demands are limited to walking, lifting of lightweight items, such as books and paper, typing, filing, and using the computer. Work is primarily sedentary, maintaining a seated position at a computer workstation/desk for conducting administrative work or in a conference area for meetings. Writing notes manually is also expected. The incumbent will be responsible for delivering legal Baker Act documents to the Orange County Court House in a timely manner utilizing a Government Vehicle in the circumstances that the VA system is in downtime and no other resources are available following the Florida Baker Act Law.
