The position functions as a Program Support Assistant to the Medical Specialty Social Workers, which includes the Dialysis, Infectious Disease/HIV, Oncology, Radiation Oncology, Traumatic Brain Injury/Polytrauma, and Transplant areas. The position is located at the Orlando VA Medical Center in Lake Nona, FL under the guidance of the Social Work Service.
Duties
Provides daily administrative support to supervisors and program staff
Serves as a Point of Contact for medical specialty areas.
Personally responds to inquiries and ensures outgoing correspondence is in proper format and meets established deadlines.
Completes required trainings and collaborates with CDCE Service to make purchases from FCP and GPF accounts
Gives courteous, accurate, and complete responses to peers, supervisors, and internal/ external customers in a timely manner.
Identifies missed opportunities and engages in service recovery within their assignment.
Maintains confidentiality of medical information without exception, and with no occasions of improper release that results in harm to the Veteran or the Department of Veterans Affairs
Typing requirement:
This position requires a typing requirement of 40 words per minute.
Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, 7:30am - 4:00pm

Physical Requirements: The work is typically sedentary, although physical effort on a daily basis may likely be required to respond to Veteran needs in the medical center, as well as to deliver or track program supplies and meet with staff within the Orlando VA Medical Center and other clinics in the Orlando VA Healthcare System as needed. Manual dexterity is required in operation of personal computer and other office equipment. Driving a vehicle may be required to travel to outpatient clinics where Medical Specialty Social Workers provide services.

GS-07 grade level: One year of specialized experience (equivalent to the GS-06 grade level in the federal service); experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities (KSA's) and other characteristics to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled, in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Specialized experience includes: providing clerical, technical, and/or customer support; receiving and referring phone calls; communicating and treating customers in a courteous, tactful and respectful manner while providing consistent information according to established policies and procedures; and using computer programs to prepare documents.

Education
There is no educational substitution for the GS-07 level.
