You will serve as a General Supply Specialist in the Logistics Support Team of NAVSUP FLC SD GF.

Duties

You will assume the role of conducting and reviewing logistic and financial operations within the LST as well as supporting the LCS sea frame. You will develop and utilize analytical techniques to ensure supply operations are sustained to support material requirements onboard LCS. You will utilize various databases such as Relational Supply (RSUPPLY), One Touch and Federal Logistics (FEDLOG) to review and validate outstanding requisitions to include but not limited to inventory allowance fills and direct turnover items. You will appraise effectiveness of systems and procedures, determining their compliance with government regulations and internal controls. You will establish internal schedules for the areas under your cognizance, taking into consideration known variables - deployment schedules, military paydays, etc., and ensure effective assignment of manpower to accomplish work. You will conduct training seminars at the ship or shore activity when requested or where deemed appropriate by the type and prevalence of discrepancies or by deficiencies in internal controls. You will request and manage fuel Inventory through FLC, DLA, and NAVFAC; you will provide fueling and refueling support for the ship and supported equipment.

  • This is a bargaining unit position.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • This position is considered Key/Non-Combat Essential. You will be required to provide immediate and continuing support of the expeditionary requirements in other than combat or combat support situations.
  • This is a Mission Essential position. You will be required to ensure organization or facility continuity of operations and/or completion of tasks that are considered essential to the mission designated by a local or command decision

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience performing General Supply Specialist work equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-09) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector applying an extensive knowledge of Navy and local subsistence policies, procedures, regulations, precedents, and other guidelines in order to orchestrate logistics processes; I also have experience utilizing a technical expertise in the major areas of supply operation (repairable, consumable, financial, HAZMAT, fuel, etc.), sufficient to independently analyze and resolve complex difficulties brought on by the simultaneous delivery schedules for multiple Navy installation and Fleet customers. I have experience applying a comprehensive knowledge of Afloat Shipboard Operations, Stock Control Operations, and local purchase requirements, in order to relate new concepts and theories to supply problems that may not be able to be corrected by pre-established supply methods, techniques, and procedures. I have experience using a knowledge of warehousing operations (material receipt, stow, issue, inventory management and physical distribution), in order to lead and direct a diverse workforce in supply operations, involving a knowledge of processing orders/receipts IAW DLA and NAVSUP processing procedures in recognized databases such RSUPPLY and N-ERP, and other recognized databases. I am able to communicate well both orally and in writing. Examples of specialized experience may include: 1) Develop and utilize analytical techniques to ensure supply operations are sustained to support material requirements onboard Littoral Combat Ships (LCS); 2) Utilize various databases such as Relational Supply (RSUPPLY), One Touch and Federal Logistics (FEDLOG) to review and validate outstanding requisitions; 3) Receive material requests from customers, and coordinate best method of acquisition; 4) Establish internal schedules for the areas under your cognizance, taking into consideration known variables such as deployment schedules, military paydays, etc., and ensure the effective assignment of manpower to accomplish the work; 5) Provide technical advice to ships and shore activities on all phases of logistic, supply, and financial management operations; and 6) Maintain a knowledge of ship schedules, and provide recommendations to Branch Supervisor on potential courses of action to maximize efficiency in maintaining supply support for waterfront customers. In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience:

GS-11 SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION FOR EXPERIENCE: Applicants may substitute the following education for the required experience, provided it demonstrates the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to do the work of the position: possess a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree, LL.M, or have completed three full years of progressively higher level graduate level education leading to such a degree. One year of full-time graduate education is considered to be the number of credit hours that the school attended has determined to represent 1 year of full-time study. If that information cannot be obtained from the school, 18 semester hours should be considered as satisfying the 1 year of full-time study requirement.

GS-11 COMBINATION OF EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Combinations of successfully completed graduate education and experience may be used to meet total qualification requirements.
