About the Position: Develop procedures to ensure critical safety programs following the Department of Defense (DoD) and Department of the Army (DA) requirements.
This position is located at Fort Belvoir, VA.
Duties
Set priorities, prepare schedules, and complete inspections using the Assessment, Inspection and Surveys module of the Army Safety Management Information System (ASMIS) 2.0
Conduct formal inspections of all facilities to include writing the final report and debriefing the applicable commanders.
Assist in organizing, development, and the conduct of the occupational safety and health program for TAAB, Davison Army Airfield, and subordinate units.
Plan, design, and carry out aviation and ground safety training programs to Brigade and subordinate unit personnel.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain the Professional Certificate in SOH outlined in the 0018-job series Master Training Plan and/or awarded the Professional Certificate in SOH within 12 months of assignment to the position.
- This position has been identified as being a Key and Mission Essential position and has been designated under the provisions of AR 690-11, Mobilization Planning and Management.
- Pre-employment physical and annual physicals while in position including pulmonary testing are required.
- Pre-employment drug test and random drug testing while in the position. Must sign DA Form 5019-R.
- Use of protective clothing and gear may be required.
- Position may require employee to work under adverse environmental conditions.
- Must possess a valid state driver’s license. Must obtain and maintain a valid government driver’s license.
- May be required to work other than normal duty hours, which may include evenings, weekends, holidays, and/or on-call duty hours.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a secret security clearance.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes assist with managing safety and/or occupational health program elements; assist with recommending safety and occupational health policy to higher level management; and assist with accident investigation reports. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12).

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-12).
