About the Position: Develops procedures to ensure critical safety programs following the Department of Defense (DoD) and Department of the Army (DA) requirements. Conducts regular surveys and inspections of aviation operations, facilities, and equipment including aviation, ground and industrial safety functions directly related to flight, ground, and hangar safety to ensure compliance with established occupational safety standards and requirements, which may involve in-flight surveillance.

Duties

Set priorities, prepares schedules, and completes inspections using the Assessment, Inspection and Surveys module of the Army Safety Management Information System (ASMIS) 2.0. Conduct formal inspections of all facilities to include writing the final report and debriefing the applicable commanders. Assist organizations in accident investigations and reporting procedures by visiting the accident scene when required. Provide advice on current regulatory guidance for aviation operations, influencing substantive program changes or alternative new courses of aviation and ground safety action. Assist in organizing, development, and the conduct of the occupational safety and health program for TAAB, Davison Army Airfield, and subordinate units. Plan, design, and carry out aviation and ground safety training programs to Brigade and subordinate unit personnel.

Requirements

• Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain the Professional Certificate in SOH outlined in the 0018-job series Master Training Plan and/or awarded the Professional Certificate in SOH within 12 months of assignment to the position.

• Must possess a valid state driver's license. Must obtain and maintain a valid government driver's license.
