About the Position: This position is located in Fort Campbell Kentucky at the Blanchfield Army Community Hospital under the Defense Health Agency (DHA). The employee will report to the HIPAA Privacy Office and work a standard shift of 40 hours per week in an office environment. This is a Direct Hire Solicitation

Duties

Ensure the facility complies with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) regulations regarding patient information privacy and security. Develop and implement privacy policies and procedures, conduct regular privacy assessments and audits, and provide staff training on HIPAA regulations. Investigate privacy breaches or complaints and ensure the organization remains in compliance with all HIPAA requirements, to include Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) privacy related issues. Support management as the subject matter expert for HIPAA/FOIA investigations. Monitor all health-related agreements with other similar internal DHA organizations to ensure all privacy concerns, requirements and responsibilities are addressed Support management in developing and maintaining a culture of privacy and security within the organization. Generate detailed reports/responses to all matters related to HIPAA privacy compliance Correct erroneous data within the Electronic Health Records (EHR’s) by utilizing the various healthcare delivery systems.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes serving as a liaison between the hospital and patients regarding HIPAA/FOIA policy and procedures; providing solutions to patient privacy issues and complaints; conducting investigations to determine if patient privacy violations has occurred; and using automated systems to enter data and produce reports This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07). OR Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: hospital administration, public health administration, or related fields such as business or public administration with course work in health care administration. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages.
