About the Position: The mission of the CCAD is to overhaul, repair, modify, retrofit, test and modernize helicopters, engines and components for all services and foreign military customers. CCAD is the Army's Center of Industrial and Technical Excellence for Rotary Wing Aviation Maintenance.

Duties

Lead a branch of quality control inspectors responsible for inspection of aircraft turbine engines and associated components, parts, assemblies and accessories that have been overhauled, modified, or repaired by trade workers. Complete inspections of a special nature in response to special notices, trend indicators, etc. to obtain and report information concerning actual or suspected deficiencies. Review requests for Material Review Board (MRB), Quality Deficiency Report (QDR), customer complaints, and/or proposed revisions to process documents and other publications applicable to area of responsibility. Perform inspections on aircraft turbine engines and associated components, parts, assemblies and accessories that have been overhauled, modified, or repaired by trade workers. Revise plans/schedules to meet major workload changes, production delays due to equipment/process breakdowns, material shortages, and engineering changes.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintains a personnel security background check (Tier 1 – Non-Sensitive, Low Risk).
  • Employee must pass a pre-appointment physical examination and meet established requirements.
  • This position is covered by the civilian drug testing program. Incumbent is required to sign a DA Form5019-R, condition of employment for certain civilian positions identified as critical under the drug abuse testing program.
  • This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) business or travel requirements of 5% of the time.
  • This position requires Heavy lifting of 35 lbs. is required.

I have journeyman experience in aircraft engine mechanic process, maintenance and/or test services and inspection requirements to disassemble, repair, modify, and overhaul aircraft engine turbine engines. I have experience with using tools, measuring devices, equipment, and machinery of the trade. I have provided technical direction and assistance in repair and/or testing of gas turbine engine fuel control systems. Frequently lifts and carries items weighing up to 35pounds without assistance, and over 35 pounds with assistance from another worker or weight handling equipment. Assistance with the larger, awkward items is available. Working conditions: Work is performed inside a shop area. Exposed to shop and test equipment noise. Subject to cuts and abrasions from handling items during inspections. Requires wearing safety glasses and safety shoes. Working conditions are considered in the evaluation of the work.
