About the Position: Serve as a Detailed Inspector General, Office of the Inspector General, U.S. Army Medical Center of Excellence, Ft. Sam Houston, TX.

Duties

Conducts IG investigations and resolves cases of alleged wrongdoing and misconduct. Provides technical guidance and oversight of all general, special, quick-look and follow-up inspections of command activities. Represents the IG as required at command staff briefings, meetings, and conferences with authority to establish or present the agency position. Serves as Information Management Officer for the Inspector General office.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Position requires incumbent to successfully graduate from the Inspector General (IG) School and maintain certification.
  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
  • The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles.
  • This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 10% of the time.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: conducting inquiries directed by the local Inspector General (IG); review and process IG requests; analyze IG requests, articulate allegations, and develop a plan of action. Upon completion of inspections, analyze results and prepare an inspection report. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).
