As an IT Specialist (INFOSEC) GS-13 with the US Office of Personnel Management (OPM), Office of the Inspector General (OIG) you will serve as a subject matter expert responsible for planning, coordinating, and deploying information system security solutions. You will also be tasked with monitoring OIG IT systems, identifying current threats, mitigating vulnerabilities, and advising staff and leadership on matters pertaining to cybersecurity.
Duties
Independently leads projects and management efforts regarding the OIG Information System Security/Information Assurance program.
Plans and executes advanced security reviews of complex information system components and processes such as access control and data protection systems.
Evaluates security assessment reports, develops risk mitigation strategies, and follows through to ensure effective implementation.
Leads information system authorization projects to include establishing contractor requirements and monitoring the quality of work products
Qualifications
Applicants must have one year of specialized experience at the GS-12 grade level in the Federal government (or equivalent) performing the following:
Designing or implementing continuous monitoring processes to track and maintain compliance with organizational and industry security standards, identifying and addressing security gaps.
Evaluating the effectiveness of vulnerability scanning tools and penetration testing to identify and mitigate security threats in real-time.
Participating the in development of risk mitigation strategies for complex IT environments, including the use of automated tools and advanced threat detection techniques.
Providing guidance on IT security policies and procedures, offering solutions for improving security operations and ensuring compliance with regulatory frameworks and cybersecurity best practices.
