Joining the Secret Service, Office of Protective Operations, Vice Presidential Protective Division or Uniformed Division will allow you to assist with the resolution of financial management problems which impact the programs of the Service. You will perform a wide variety of administrative and analytical duties related to budget formulation, justification, presentation, execution, and a review of financial status for the Office of Protective Operations.
Duties
The selectee will serve as a Financial Management Analyst in the Office of Protective Operations, Vice Presidential Protection Division or Uniformed Division. Typical work assignments include:
Identifies and resolves discrepancies over funding issues.
Establishes controls to and monitors rate of expenditures and budgeted funds during the fiscal year.
Analyzes financial trends and presents findings to senior level analysts to assist in forecasting long-term funding and procurement needs.
Audits and tracks travel, lodging expenses and completing required documentation for payment.
Completes obligates and expenditure documentation in a timely manner consistent with the division's financial spend plan and in accordance with Federal Acquisition regulations.
Qualifications
Applicants must demonstrate that they meet the Minimum Qualification requirements as noted below.
GS-09: You qualify for the GS-09 level (starting salary $68,405.00) if you possess one of the following:
Applicant must demonstrate one full year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-07 level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors) performing the following duties:
Assisting with the monitoring of expenditures and budgeted funds throughout the fiscal year;
Reviewing purchase card transactions to ensure they are in compliance with established regulations;
Providing support in the auditing of incurred travel expenses; and
Identifying financial discrepancies during the billing process.

OR
Education: Completed a Master's or equivalent graduate degree; or (two) 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree; or LL.B. or J.D., if related at an accredited college or university in a field that provided the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform this work. NOTE: You must submit a copy of your college transcripts (official or unofficial) to support your claim.
OR
Combination: Have a combination of specialized experience (less than one year) and graduate education (less than two years) that when combined equals 100% of the qualification requirement. NOTE: Only graduate education in excess of one year (generally 18 semester hours) may be used in this calculation. You must submit a copy of your college transcripts (official or unofficial) and your resume must explicitly indicate how you meet the experience; otherwise, you will be found ineligible.
GS-11: You qualify for the GS-11 level (starting salary $82,764.00) if you possess one of the following:
Applicant must demonstrate one full year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-09 level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors) performing the following duties:
Assisting with the application of financial controls to ensure spend plans are being properly followed;
Ensuring proper documentation is provided to support incurred travel costs;
Reviewing and processing purchase card transactions in accordance with appropriate regulations; and
Providing financial management advice to stakeholders.

OR
Education: Completed a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree, or three full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree, or LL.M., if related, from an accredited college or university that provided the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform this work. NOTE: You must submit a copy of your college transcripts (official or unofficial) to support your claim.
OR
Combination: Have a combination of specialized experience (less than one year) and graduate education (beyond 2 years of graduate education), that when combined equals 100% of the qualification requirement. Note: Only graduate education in excess of two years (generally 36 semester hours) may be used in this calculation. You must submit a copy of your college transcripts (official or unofficial) and your resume must explicitly indicate how you meet the experience to support your claim. NOTE: Your resume must explicitly indicate how you meet this requirement, otherwise you will be found ineligible.
Time-in-Grade Requirements: Under competitive merit promotion procedures, any individual who is currently holding, or who has held within the previous 52 weeks, a General Schedule position under a non-temporary appointment in the competitive or excepted service, must meet "time-in-grade" requirements (have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade of the grade for which you are applying). Time-In-Grade requirements also apply to current employees applying for a Veterans Employment Opportunities Act of 1998 (VEOA) appointment. NOTE: All current or former Federal employees must provide a copy of their SF-50 (you may need to submit more than one), "Notice of Personnel Action" that indicates proof of status and time-in-grade eligibility. The SF-50 must include your position, title, series, grade, step, tenure (1 or 2), and type of service (Competitive or Excepted).
