About the Position: Serves as the Soldier Recovery Unit (SRU) Senior Human Resources (HR) Specialist with responsibility to provide a full range of direct human resources functional support to the Soldiers in Transition assigned or attached to the Soldier Recovery Unit.
Duties
Provides advice and performs a variety of complex analytical Human Resources military personnel functions to redistribute resources.
Serves as the Soldier Recovery Unit functional expert on assignment issues, requirements and shortfalls.
Supervises, directs, and monitors the work of approximately 3-5 civilian personnel to include HR and Finance personnel.
Monitors and manages the officer and enlisted evaluation function of the military personnel system for the SRU.
Maintains suspense logs of recurring and one-time reports and ensures designated units and staff sections submit reports on time.
Assists in administering the Soldier Recovery Unit military awards and decorations program and provides guidance and instruction to awards board members on a regular basis.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance.
- This is an inclement weather essential position: incumbent is expected to make every attempt to report for duty on time and/or remain on duty during severe weather conditions.
- All employees assigned to a MTF are required to be screened for applicable immunizations regardless of series, based on occupational risk, and are subject to missing/required immunizations.
- This position may require a pre-employment physical.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1) making recommendations to resolve matters concerning personnel function; 2) delegating a wide range of responsibility to plan, schedule, direct, and carry out the full scope of assignments; 3) preparing briefings and/or briefing senior management; AND 4) reviews, modifies, develops, adjusts, and interprets regulations.. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09).

Education: Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree or in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Human Resources, Business Administration or Public Administration. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.)

Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages.

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-09).
