About the Position: This position is located at Brooke Army Medical Center within the Office of the Troop Commander, Fort Sam Houston, TX. The primary purpose of this position is to perform a variety of administrative, clerical and office automation duties independently and in accordance with established policies, procedures and accepted practices.

Duties

Perform a variety of administrative, clerical and office automation duties independently and in accordance with established policies and procedures. Review and edit correspondence to ensure proper format, spelling, grammar and punctuation. Establish and maintain a variety of files and records, publications, and regulations. Attend staff meetings and conferences and accurately takes notes and/or minutes. Research, gather, and consolidate material for a variety of reports and presentations. Maintain government credit card if applicable for authorized supply transactions. Receive visitors and phone calls, accurately and tactfully determines nature of requests and refers to the appropriate person/office. Operate a motor vehicle for distribution runs between local command facilities. Maintain time and attendance reports for the organization.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • A Personnel security investigation is required.
  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Tier 3, Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.
  • This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and is therefore subject to annual seasonal influenza vaccinations.
  • The position requires the incumbent to obtain and maintain a valid Military driver’s license.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-04). OR Education: Four years of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.) OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of education beyond two years (total semester hours minus 60) by 60. Add the two percentages. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.) Proficiency Required:This position requires a qualified typist. A qualified typist can type 40 words per minute based on a 5 minute sample with three or fewer errors. Advancement requirement to positions up to GS-05: Candidates may be advanced without time restriction to positions up to GS-05 if the position to be filled is no more than two grades above the lowest grade the employee held within the preceding 52 weeks under his or her latest non-temporary competitive appointment. NOTE: To support the Advancement requirement you MUST submit a copy of your latest non-award SF-50/Notification of Personnel Action that reflects your highest grade held on a permanent basis along with your application/resume package. Failure to do so may affect your rating or consideration for employment.
