Duties

The Financial Systems Specialist provides professional advice and technical guidance necessary to successfully address complex financial system planning, development and operational matters; at various times as a project or task lead, accountability for effective project administration; organizes work assignments/responsibilities, and coordinates schedules for the purpose of meeting completion dates and deadlines. This position starts at a salary of $104,356.00 (GS-13, Step 1) to $135,667.00 (GS-13, Step 10). Typical work responsibilities include: Providing professional advice and technical guidance necessary to successfully address complex financial system planning, development and operational matters. Participating in or planning, overseeing and guiding team, task force or work group activities pertaining to specific components of system development, testing, implementation and user training. Participating in efforts to perform detailed research and analysis of complex financial application problems and the development of sound recommendations for improving/correcting deficiencies, or to ensure the ongoing integrity of applications in terms of systems performance as well as timeliness and accuracy of data and compliance with controls and reliability criteria. Making recommendations to management concerning such matters as the content of a requirements document, design specifications, testing plans, training materials, change management or the development of business cases and cost benefit analysis for the justification of SAP and other CBP financial systems. Preparing and presenting project status briefings to supervisor and peers as well as higher level managers.

Qualifications

Experience: You qualify for the GS-13 grade level if you possess 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, performing duties such as: Providing technical support and customer assistance to enhance Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) or large equivalent systems Providing project support and recommendations to higher level management Preparing and presenting status briefings/communications to supervisors and peers as well as higher level management Providing support to leadership related to financial and collection activities including monitoring/fixing of system related issues, changes and reporting NOTE: Your resume must explicitly indicate how you meet this requirement, otherwise you will be found ineligible. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. You must: Meet all qualification requirements, including education if applicable to this position, subject to verification at any stage of the application process; and Meet all applicable Time in Grade requirements (current federal employees must have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade or equivalent grade band in the federal service) by 09/18/2024. The Office of Personnel Management (OPM) must authorize employment offers made to current or former political appointees.
