You will serve as a LEAD TRANSPORTATION ASSISTANT (AIR OPERATIONS) in the Command and Control Branch, Air Terminal Operations Division of NAVAL AIR TERMINAL.

Duties

You will provide operational and technical data to Air Mobility Command (AMC) and subordinate unit command duty officers regarding aircraft mission and ground handling. You will use computerized data for obtaining basic information on a Domestic Military Plan for continental flights and International Flight Plans prior to the arrival of a military aircraft. You will manage the handling and storage of aircrew classified material and weapons. You will research discrepancies to resolve transportation issues.

  • This is a bargaining unit position.
  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. You will be required to sign a DD-Form-2760, Qualification to possess firearms or ammunition.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:1) Applying knowledge of transportation principles, policies, regulations, methods, and techniques relating to the movement of cargo/freight; 2) Completing activities performed in support of aircraft (manned or unmanned) and avionics to provide operational ground and terminal support, port operations support, aircraft load information support, flight planning support, or fuel and service order support required by aircraft to support ground operations and meet mission requirements; 3) Analyzing problems, identifying solutions, and making timely and effective recommendations to solve transportation/air terminal operation issues; and 4) Collaborating, coordinating, and communicating with various supervisors, Command agencies, Command officers, and other crew members in person, in writing, and over radio systems.
