You will serve as a Lead Transportation Assistant (Shipment Management) in the Navy Household Goods (HHG) Personal Property Shipping Office (PPSO) of NAVSUP FLC NORVA GF.

Duties

You will act as a single point of contact for inbound and outbound shipment management and providing quality assurance oversight. You will be responsible for ensuring that the work assignments of the Transportation Assistants (TAs) are equitably distributed and carried out. You will assist the supervisor in providing training to new employees following established procedures and practices. You will arrange for the pickup and/or delivery of personal property shipments. You will respond to all member/employee and Transportation Service Provider (TSP) requests for information/assistance. You will make recommendations on expanding or curtailing existing policies, processes and procedures when necessary.

Requirements

  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.

  • You must obtain and maintain eligibility for assignment or retention to a sensitive national security position as a condition of employment, regardless of the requirement to access classified information.

  • You may be required to obtain/possess Government vehicle operator permit.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-06) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector demonstrating thorough knowledge of a wide range of traffic management and transportation policies, principles, and methodology. Examples of specialized experience includes most or all of the following: 1) Providing guidance within all areas of personal property shipment management including household goods and personal property entitlement counseling, inbound and outbound shipment management, non-temporary and temporary storage, quality assurance, and/or procedures for processing loss and damage claims; 2) Identifying transportation service needs and problems by utilizing automated information systems; 3) Utilizing thorough knowledge of transportation methods and related services for processing personal property shipments, loss and damage claims, and calculating shipment costs; 4) Planning, managing, or reviewing own workload.
