You will serve as a INTERDISCIPLINARY PHYSICAL SCIENTIST/OCEANOGRAPHER/ PHYSICIST in the Cooperative Engagement and Requirements Group within the Plans, Programs and Requirements Department of NAVOCEANO BAY ST LOUIS.
Duties
You will be responsible for supporting all aspects of the requirements process, as well as Technology Transfer (T2), cooperative engagement, and facilitation at NAVOCEANO.
You will be responsible for reviewing operational planning documents to ensure that plans are comprehensive, and address validated tasked requirements, as well as reflecting a continuum of requirements in priority order.
You will be responsible for providing survey operations and OHB requirements metrics and analysis to support larger department and command-level reports and database efforts.
You will be responsible for coordinating all international incoming and outgoing data exchange transactions for NAVOCEANO to include mail, email, and digital data exchange.

- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
Qualifications
In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
Mastery experience of the theories, principles, practices, and techniques of the physical sciences (i.e., oceanography, hydrography, physics or geophysics), with thorough knowledge of the ocean environment to evaluate and conceive NAVOCEANO programs with respect to requirements.
Experience serving as a technical expert and consultant to NAVOCEANO management.
Experience with the requirements cycle and procedures within METOC and GI&S communities with an understanding of the evolving role of NAVOCEANO and COMNAVMETOCCOM in the requirements process.
Mastery experience with various requirements tasked to NAVOCEANO, and the data necessary to fulfill those requirements, the end products, and the relative priority of the individual requirements.
Experience providing survey operations and Oceanographic, Hydrographic, and Bathymetric (OHB) requirements metrics and analysis to support larger department and command-level reports and database efforts.
Experience providing guidance to NAVOCEANO survey scheduling and planning personnel to ensure scheduled operations meet the needs of the operations while reviewing operational planning documents to ensure all requirements are in order.

Basic Requirements:
- Degree: physical science, engineering, or mathematics that included 24 semester hours in physical science and/or related engineering science such as mechanics, dynamics, properties of materials, and electronics.
or
- Combination of education and experience -- education equivalent to one of the majors shown in A above that included at least 24 semester hours in physical science and/or related engineering science, plus appropriate experience or additional education.
Oceanography Series 1360
Individual Occupational Requirements
Basic Requirements:
- Degree: major study of at least 24 semester hours in oceanography or a related discipline such as physics, meteorology, geophysics, mathematics, chemistry, engineering, geology, or biology, plus 20 additional semester hours in any combination of oceanography, physics, geophysics, chemistry, mathematics, meteorology, computer science, and engineering sciences.
or
- Combination of education and experience -- course work as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education.
Applicants who qualify on the basis of major study in biology or geology must have had at least 6 semester hours in the major directly concerned with marine science or 6 semester hours in oceanography; applicants who qualify on the basis of other physical sciences or engineering must have had differential and integral calculus and at least 6 semester hours in physics.

Individual Occupational Requirements
Basic Requirements:
Degree: physics; or related degree that included at least 24 semester hours in physics.
or
Combination of education and experience -- courses equivalent to a major in physics totaling at least 24 semester hours, plus appropriate experience or additional education.
In either A or B above, the courses must have included a fundamental course in general physics and, in addition, courses in any two of the following: electricity and magnetism, heat, light, mechanics, modern physics, and sound.
