You will serve as a HUMAN PERFORMANCE PROGRAM SPECIALIST in the Training Command, School of Infantry West (SOI-W) of TRAINING AND EDUCATION COMMAND.
Duties
You will develop and execute a human performance program that encompasses endurance training, strength and conditioning, nutrition, recovery, and mindfulness to decrease injury and increase combat readiness of personnel.
You will conduct studies and evaluations to gather and analyze data, track trends and create reports to improve program effectiveness.
You will design programs and initiatives to aid in repaid recovery, affect pro-habilitation and reconditions of injured personnel.
You will investigate, verify, validate, brief, study, implement, and integrate science-backed and evidence-based interventions, practices, technologies, and protocols designed to increase human performance as directed.
You will coordinate with historical human performance initiatives at RTC. Identify future human performance initiatives nested within existing programs across the Department of Defense.
You will evaluate Recon Instructors and students for muscle strength, endurance, coordination, and balance; provide guidance for group instruction in physical reconditioning, and devises adaptations of equipment to meet specific needs of Marines
You will provide expertise in support of curriculum and lesson material development to ensure proper training and education in components and principles of human performance,
You will be responsible for development, sustainment, instruction guidance, and evaluation of standardized physical training (PT), combat and aquatic conditioning, and education in support of Recon Training Company’s mission.
Requirements

- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
- You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases
- Position requires nationally recognized professional certification by a nationally recognized professional organization such as the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) or American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM).
Qualifications
In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Developing and executing a human performance program including the areas of exercise physiology, strength and conditioning, recovery, nutrition, and mindfulness to decrease injury and increase combat readiness of personnel, conduct studies and evaluations to gather and analyze data, track trends and create reports to improve program effectiveness and developing curriculum to ensure proper training and education in human performance principles.

Education
Applicants must meet the following positive education qualifications requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards Manual: Applicants must possess Bachelor's or graduate/higher level degree: major study in an academic field related to the medical field, health sciences or allied sciences appropriate to the work of the position. This degree must be from an educational program from an accrediting body recognized by the
U.S. Department of Education(external link) at the time the degree was obtained.
Applicant may qualify for this position through education substitution. To qualify, in addition to the basic education requirements for this position, applicant must possess:
3 years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. degree
or Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree
Applicant can also qualify with the basic education requirements AND a combination of education and experience which when combined equals 1 year of specialized experience.
