You will serve as a SAFETY AND OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH MANAGER in the ENVIRONMENTAL, SAFETY & HEALTH (ESH) DEPARTMENT, FIRE SAFETY PROGRAM of MID ATLANTIC REGIONAL MAINTENANCE CTR.

Duties

You will be responsible for the technical and supervisory management of ten Fire Safety Officers (FS) at the GS-12 level. You will be responsible for assigning work to subordinate staff to ensure that established goals, priorities, and schedules are met. You will be responsible for management of Shipboard Fire Safety, Prevention and Response Programs, including program management, compliance, oversight, and quality assurance. You will monitor effectiveness and coordinate overall management of complex casualty responses. You will be a subject matter expert on emergency management and fire prevention program principles, practices, laws, and oversee overall project management.

  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • Supervisors in the executive branch have a heightened personal responsibility for advancing government ethics. You will be required to review the 14 General Principles of Ethical Conduct at 5 CFR 2635.101.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience performing all personnel administrative actions to include hiring, promotions, performance assessments, and timekeeping. Experience ensuring subordinate work assignments are accomplished within established guidelines, and are technically, and administratively sound. Experience coordinating, directing, and making decisions on a broad range of matters affecting shipboard fire prevention requirements, including overall drill attributes, performance and coordination of personnel, equipment, and technical instructions to perform exercises. Experience demonstrating knowledge of fire prevention and drill requirements and implementing guidelines, MARMC, NAVSEA, and relate Navy commands' organizations, operations, communication channels, policies, practices, and functions of various departments and commands.
