This position is located within the Department of the Interior, Office of Surface Mining Reclamation and Enforcement, Information Resources Office in Washington D.C. or Lakewood, CO. The positions will support the Mission Systems Support Branch.

Duties

At the full performance level (GS-12) the major duties of this position include, but are not limited to the following: 1. Ensure rigorous application of information security policies, principles, and practices in the delivery of network services.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualification Requirements: To qualify for this position you must meet the (1) Basic Educational Requirements AND/OR (2) Specialized Experience for the series to which you are applying. Specialized Experience To qualify for the GS-12, you must possess at least one full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level in the Federal service, or comparable experience not gained through Federal service. Specialized experience is experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is in or related to the work of the position to be filled. Specialized experience is defined as demonstrated experience: Experience serving as a network administrator managing network architecture and infrastructures to include network monitoring, security posture and diagnosing and resolving issues as require in support of the Bureau mission. Develop and maintain IT related projects/tasks for installation and implementation of hardware, network and software requirements, policies, guidelines, and practices. This includes but is not limited to initial design, system lifecycle management, change management, and configuration management. Provide briefings to management, and key enterprise stakeholders on IT project status and significant developments, including success metrics, stakeholder needs, and risks. Merit promotion applicants must meet time-in-grade requirement as defined in 5 CFR 300, Subpart F. One year at the GS-GS-11 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-12 level. You must meet all qualification and eligibility requirements by the closing date of this announcement. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
