Duties

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING DAY TO DAY As a Public Health Analyst, you will use your knowledge of and experience to optimize business results and customer experience by: Providing counsel and guidance on the management aspects and implications of proposed policies as they relate to implementation into the regions to assure that these policies are in keeping with Departmental, Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) and Office Intergovernmental and External Affairs (OIEA) regional issues. Providing comments on proposed legislation which have an impact on regional program functions. Serving as an expert analyst in operational program/management issues with responsibility for developing, recommending, coordinating, and implementing program improvements and new procedures, which are designed to improve/enhance public health program performance throughout regions. Reviewing and commenting on proposed legislation to determine the effect on OIEA management operations and programs. Preparing and overseeing the writing and production of publications and information about activities and mission, which build mutual understanding between the members of the OIEA and relevant publics.

Qualifications

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR Basic Qualifications: Must have experience that provided: Knowledge of organizational, operational, and programmatic concepts and practices applied by public, private, or nonprofit agencies and organizations engaged in public health or other health-related activities. Knowledge of the methods, processes, and techniques used to develop and deliver public health or health-related programs in State and local settings. Knowledge of a specialized public health program. Knowledge of, and skill in, the application of administrative or analytical methods and techniques necessary for working within the framework of a public health or related organization and carrying out specific program functions. Skill in oral and written communication, gathering and conveying information, making oral presentations, and preparing reports, correspondence, and other written materials. -AND- Specialized Experience: In addition to the basic qualification requirement above, you must have one-year specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-13 grade level in the Federal service performing at least three (3) of the following: Serving on a team or leading work groups. Assisting with developing and or coordinating program improvements designed to improve/enhance public health program performance. Aiding in providing comments on proposed legislation which have impacts on public health programs. Analyzing public health policies, programs and/or statistical standards to advise managers on public health policies, operations, products and/or services.
